Orange County Salvation Army Treasures...Looking For Baby Doll

Yes.  Still looking for Baby Doll... (my heart is aching)

Searching through the many Salvation Army stores in Orange County, CA.  Each time my heart starts to race, feeling like she is here - I know I'll find her this time!

Last Seen in November 2011 wearing these PJ's without the wings and stripes.
Chou Chou brand 16"-18" long, sleepy eyes, precious.

I focus on the toy area, looking high and low and, wide. (as items are spread about by shoppers and sweet kids)

Wait!  Could this be a "sign"?!

Jessie from Toy Story 2 & 3
It is a heart stopping sign if you have seen Toy Story 3 !! (here)
"Jessie!  Have you seen Baby Doll?  Is she trying to get home?  Tell her I'm looking for her!  I'm not giving up!  It was not Daughter's idea to donate her - it was mine...tell her how sorry I am and how much we both Love Her!

Deep breath.         Try again at the next store.
And then my heart is soothed when I see treasures!  (wish I had a partner, or two, we could collect items for a Pop-Up Store)

$99  Not a scratch - But would look great painted too!

Soothed so much that I nearly forget about the Baby Doll Quest.

$64 less 30% ("Partner" you do the math) nearly 4ft tall - just a few scratches to touch up.
Could you DIE?  Blue ceramic and teak!

Potential Pop Up Store partners - let's get busy!  There are sooo many empty store fronts in prime retail locations in this area of Southern California.  Or just let me know when you open yours and I'll come shopping.

Also let me know if you see Baby Doll.

Cheers!  Linda

Compare Contrast - Iron Hardware

Pottery Barn Twist Iron Hardware vs Van Dyke's Restorers

Bin Pulls

Pottery Barn Bin Pull

Van Dyke's Restorers

Why am I looking at Iron Hardware?  Probably because I don't have a need for iron hardware, and what I don't need, I covet!  This is not a post/catalog - if you are looking to purchase iron hardware then you will have to do the real work and find the prices and dimensions for yourself by clicking on the links I have provided.

Knobs

Pottery Barn Cabinet Knob
Van Dyke's Cabinet Knob (more)

My biggest concern when ordering anything online is how does it feel?  You know, the touch test.  You don't?  Gawd, I can stand in the hardware/designer stores for what my kids will say is hours (and they would be correct) feeling up the knobs, pulls and knockers.  What's not fun about that?!

Knockers

Pottery Barn

Van Dyke's

Knockers must feel good and make a solid thud sound.  Not a "ping, ping" but more of a "boom, boom".  Testing this online is obviously impossible (you do understand that) so be prepared to ship it back if the sound is unsatisfactory.  Caution and observation must be employed when shopping in the stores too... what are the knockers mounted on to - wood or a metal display system?  This will change the tone of your knockers.

Please note I am voting from the photos only - though my years of experience with touching pulls, knobs and knockers have provided me with a sight sensory expertease to be a good judge....

The sinwinners are!  Pottery Barn pulls and Van Dyke's knocker! And the knobs, (this is such a personal choice) tie!

Cheers!  Linda

Maison de Luxe - Designer Jamie Drake

Super Tiny
Luxe Magazine  Los Angeles pages 178 & 179
Designer Jamie Drake

My photographic images show texture and layering techniques in detail - well, the detail that attracts my attention!

Design In My View original photo
Greystone Mansion original parquet flooring.  Embroidery drapes (Rubelli fabrics, Samuel & Sons trim), smoky plexiglass, ebony wood, velvet, damask, nubby silk (or linen) and what looks like cotton denim.  Ooo la la!

The above view is to the left of the seating group (drapery panels flank french doors) shown below:

In this designer show house (Maison de Luxe) Jamie Drake loves to mix color, texture, and SHINE!

The sofa is by Donghia and the painting is by Lana Gomez via KiptonArt, lamps from Porta Romana, paint by Benjamin Moore.

Are you gaga over this?!  Custom hyde carpet by Kyle Bunting, patchwork optic pattern, dyed to match the fabric choices throughout the room.  Coffee tables are from Downtown.

Please ask me your questions - 'Cause if I go into all of the details I SEE, many of you will burn out on the "verbage" or combust - lit by my enthusiasm!

Polka Dot Artist Yayoi Kusama

Iam suddenly and happily overcome by a NEW (to me!  You?) ARTIST.

Yayoi Kusama

"Pumpkin 1994"   image from Ota Fine Arts, Tokyo/Kusama Studio Inc.

Two installations in Japan.  Organic, Original, O word not suitable for all audiences. (yes, I went there - rhymes sometimes take over thought)

Our artist............................
Yayoi Kusama  b. 3/22/1929               Biography
Check her Wikipedia biography here.  You may (or, may not) be surprised to learn that she has long suffered with mental illness.  (eh!  what genius creative types are not at least a bit "touched"?)

Her original artwork.....         ...   . . . ....  ...   .   .      .

Watch Peter Gabriel's song "Lovetown" for Kusama's collaboration in this music video.  here.

"Look Now, See Forever" is a current exhibition at Queensland/Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane, Australia through 11 March 2012.  here

The exhibit includes my most favorite interaction exploration of a subject EVER.  Open to families who were given dot stickers to place wherever they chose - no rules - no guidelines - total freedom!  (Hopefully, all the parents attending children observed this and stayed out of their kids way.  Just saying, as a parent, that is something we have a really hard time doing.)

and After! .. .. .   see why it's my favorite?

So remember - Yayoi Kusama born in 1929 loves dots - "crazy" for dots...  .. . ...

Love when nature is incorporated into art - becomes sculpture!

I spotted (ha!) New York Times article while building this post (it has taken a few weeks) reviewing documentarian Frederick Wiseman's film "Crazy Horse".  A behind the scenes black comedy  set in the Paris strip club of the same name.

Could not imagine a more Kusama inspired piece - down to the hair!

More dots to come....  It appears I am surrounded.  You?
