I Did Manage A Mental Health Day

I stole away from my home full of contractors for a couple of hours to find my sanity in
Roger's Gardens, Corona Del Mar.

Waiting in a very very long check out line (even with 5 registers ringing away!)

I took two steps away from my cart to snap this one.  And my cart rolled ever so slowly into the couple's cart behind me....  "oh, I'm so sorry! (big smile)"  No response from them, but maintaining eye contact I followed up with,  "That's a litigious offense, thank you for your patience. (bigger smile and a bit of a giggle)"  NaDa.  Maybe when I turned away they smiled to each other?

Not to be denied a lively exchange I engaged my cashier and his manager helper and we laughed; I was complemented on my unique plant (red camilla with a yellow pom pom center, orange red sedges, blue/grey sedum, and a new variety of Leucadendron "Ebony" aka black conebush)  combinations; we wished each other a Merry Christmas!

Cheers to You Dear Reader!   Linda   :-)

P.S.  Sorry about just two photos.  I hid my phone in the bottom of my purse while I walked through, so I would not stay all day!

  1. Linda, Love Rogers. Jealous I could not go too. Don't you just love folks that can't even be friendly? One of the things about being out shopping in these crowds is that you end up chatting with people you don't know. It really can be nice. Too bad for them!

Wishing you a lovely Christmas Linda. Thanks for being a great blogger pal! Looking forward to reading more from you in 2014!!

    xo Kim

    1. Yes Kim, chatting with others while in the spirit of the season is the best!

You just better promise to let me know next time you are in range of Rogers - I'll meet you there. :-)
      Cheers!

  3. LINDA! Hello! I am very happy to make your acquaintance this morning on this cold and artic day here in Minneapolis! I just came back from Southern California where I spent time with family, and seeing your photos here of Corona del Mar make me happy!

Thank you for leaving me a comment and I would LOVE to see your comment on that blog you mentioned. I wish you and your friend a successful year of blogging. I have found out through these six years two things: the contest (to be a better writer) is always just between myself. NO COMPETITION WITH OTHERS ALLOWED! Secondly, if one wants to get more followers, one must follow. It is a lot of "hard work" as some may put it, and yes, it means that you must leave comments on other peoples' blogs....and I'm sure you do. But that truth was brought to my eyes by a dear blogger long ago who reminded me of that. No matter what, kindness and generosity of one's time to take a moment to communicate is not new technology. It's an age-old truth whose result is the courtesy returned. It doesn't happen with everyone, but for those who do respond in kind, they are the ones that make your experience so delightful.

I lOVE YOUR FORMAT! I must see what else you have here to share! Happy 2014! Anita

  5. Hello Linda, When I see these beautiful flowers you have posted...Oh how they swoon my heart!! We are buried in 8 inches of snow (though I do enjoy some) but this winter has started out very strong. I yearn for Spring sooner than I have over the years!! Thank you so much for your insight on my posting of Cottage Glance....the knotty pine walls. They do have a very warm feel for the room and I'm not painting them (at least not for a while) I am going to try to work with them....Rustic meets Romance?? Thank you so much for your input....it means a lot to me! I love to garden and can't wait till Spring! Blessings~~~Roxie

    1. Roxie, I'm originally from the Pacific Northwest where we talk about a vengeful and generous Mother Nature. For example in your case, since winter started out very strong it will end sooner. In Oregon and Washington if we had a very wet and cold winter we would hope "She" would give us a warm & dry Spring. ;-)
I am quietly celebrating you as my 30th Follower (I have had #30 a few times before and then drop back to 29). Still looking forward to breaking a record with #31.
Dear Reader, take some time and check out Roxie's blog and their new house remodel - all the excitement with out the back ache, knuckle bangs and expenses! Cheers to Roxie, my newest follower!

  7. Imagine what it's like to be trapped inside them. May many more shopping trolleys back into their lives and render them discombobulated. Love your piccies. Is this your most recent post, am completely useless with Google Plus and how it works...

    1. Jodi or Jody (I should know this!!), This is my most recent post. They have been far and few as I'm very distracted with contractors swarming the place. Unfortunately, planned up grades have collided with leaking plumbing and all that brings.

I wish I knew how different Google Plus is to others (specifically you) to help explain. Is it my new-ish format? There is a hidden bar on the right side that gives you choices. Eventually, you'll have success when all my posts pop up in caption form. Then click on the heading of one to get the entire page visible.
Is this a problem for others? I will spend time redesigning if it is - I have yet to see anyone else choose this format - and I'm not emotionally attached.
Thank you for your entertaining recreations of daily life in your world. I have laughed out loud many times! Happy New Year to you "i" or "y" !

    2. Hi Linda - real life takes over. I like your format - this a nice and clear Google Plus. The others i go to are so confusing and I'm scrolling all over the show looking for my actual person! The issue seems to be that a bloggers posts are interspersed with bits and bobs on other people and makes for confusion when you're trying to comment, but that's just me, I'm utterly hopeless technically.

    4. Jody! Yes, I am here! Well, today I am here.... :-D You are so sweet to check in!!!!

I am entrenched in IG. "Instagram" to us #insiders #addicts find me @designinmyview or stalking through other's "like", "comments" and "followers" lists

Today is my first day coming back to blogland - you've all been so busy! So balance is coming to my interest life. Though I did go a bit overboard at the Bikram studio... 7 times in the last 10 days. I was years overdue - and feel so much better. Cheers!
